Knowing where the main water shutoff is located on your property can help prevent water damage to your home or business in an emergency.

Flood: What You Can Do Right Now

With flooding, knowing what you can do before help arrives can help reduce the damage to your home and cut the restoration costs. Standing water in your home will cause more damage with every passing hour.

  • Get everyone in your household (including pets) away from rising water and to a safe, dry area of the home.
  • Shut off your water source if you know the shutoff valve location and can reach it safely.
  • Turn off your electricity at the main panel, if you can do it without stepping in water.
  • Don’t use electrical appliances or outlets that might‘ve come in contact with water.
  • Move your most valuable items, furniture, and electronics to higher ground if it’s safe.
  • Once the flooding has stopped, take photos of the damage for your insurance claim.

honestly the places back in the old neighborhood could never be this reliable because this company handled everything when we had flooding and didn't try to upsell or drag things out, just came in and fixed it all properly the right way, like the difference is honestly night and day compared to what i was used to before and now i actually feel good about the options around here and would definitely use them again tbh

A serious water problem hit our commercial space near 87th and these guys arrived way quicker than two other outfits I'd already contacted. For three days straight their team kept industrial dryers and air movers running while taking thorough photos of everything damaged, which really simplified the insurance claim process. When they wrapped up, the place actually looked better than before the whole mess began. They removed compromised drywall and baseboards without creating chaos in the hallways or meeting spaces we were actively using. The gear they brought was significantly heavier-duty than what the first contractor wanted to use. From my initial phone call to the final inspection, the entire job wrapped in less than seven days

Water line broke and these guys dried everything out so fast. Good service.

called them when a water heater flooded two rooms in my unit and they showed up fast which was a relief because i had no idea how to handle it. crew knew their stuff and got the water out same day. they brought in some kind of drying equipment that stayed for a few days and someone checked on it pretty regularly to ensure it was all drying properly. ended up being easier than i thought it would be to deal with the whole situation because they just took care of it without a lot of back and forth. pricing seemed reasonable for the amount of work they had to do. solid service overall and got the job done without any issues.

Best Service in all of Doral! Highly Recommend!

We had a situation come up last weekend and wasn't sure what to anticipate when we called. The team showed up fast and were respectful throughout the entire process. They protected everything they didn't need to touch. The equipment was clearly professional grade. They explained what needed to happen without making it feel dramatic. Everything dried out properly and the space looks good now. They took care of the documentation and were patient with all my questions. I kept asking about timelines and they never made me feel like I was bothering them. Appreciate how smoothly they handled everything during what was otherwise a stressful time.

Great space!

(Translated by Google) I've been in Doral since way before this area became what it is now, back when half these commercial buildings were empty lots. I needed emergency help with water damage, and these guys turned up in my search. I've had restoration companies come in over the years for tenant issues at my store. This crew was different. They showed up fast, handled everything without the usual back-and-forth nonsense, and left the space cleaner than they started. No drawn-out deadlines, no surprise add-ons when the bill arrived. Just straightforward work from people who actually know what they're doing. Fair pricing for the scope of work, too. It's rare to find local service companies that still operate the way they did before everything got corporatized and automated. They're one of the good ones still around.

What a wonderful experience with this Restoration Team. They came right away when I had that Basement situation and handled everything so nicely. The crew was very thorough and kept me updated the whole time, explaining each step of the process and making sure I understood what was happening. They were respectful of my property and cleaned up completely when finished. My home looks beautiful now and I'm so happy with how everything turned out

How to clean up flood damage in a home?

When a flood emergency occurs in your home, it’s only natural to want to take action immediately. Below are some preliminary steps you can take before we arrive, but only attempt what you can do safely.

  • Shut off the water source, if possible. If you’re not sure where the water is coming from, we’ll inspect and handle the situation as soon as we arrive. If you don’t know how to shut off the water, contact a plumber to help.
  • Remove excess water by mopping, blotting, or wiping. This could include flooring and hard surface furniture which has standing water on it. Do not use your household vacuum to remove water, since it could cause damage to the vacuum or be unsafe.
  • Protect carpet, rugs, drapes, and upholstered items from further damage. Place aluminum foil or parchment paper between furniture and wet carpet or rugs. Remove books, magazines, or other colored items from carpets and rugs. Hang draperies up with coated hangers to avoid contact with wet floors. Remove pillows or cushions from wet upholstered items.
  • Avoid using electric or electronic items that have come into contact with water. This may include items such as light fixtures, ceiling fans, televisions, or appliances. If there is a possibility that someone else on the property may turn on an electric item that has come in contact with water, consider turning off the power to individual circuits within the power distribution panel of the property.
What is a flood?

A flood is an overflow of water onto property that should otherwise be dry. Water from flooding doesn’t always come from the same place, and where it comes from matters a lot. Some floods bring in fairly clean water you can begin to deal with carefully. Others carry bacteria and contaminants that can harm your health. That’s why it’s important to know what you’re up against before you start your cleanup.

What are the most common causes of home floods?

Most home floods come from severe weather and storms, plumbing or appliance failures, and sewer backups or rising groundwater. Each source carries different risks, so identifying the cause early helps you respond as effectively as possible.

Is flood damage covered by insurance?

Flood damage may be covered by your insurance policy, but you’ll need to reach out to your agent to get specifics about your particular coverage. Most typical homeowners insurance does not cover flood damage.

How long does it take to fix flood damage?

The time it takes to fix flood damage depends on the severity of the flood. We’ll inspect your home or business and discuss with you the severity of damage and our plan to help return your property back to pre-loss condition. We’ll then work to remove the water that shouldn’t be there using pumps and water extracting equipment. Once the excess water is gone, we use dehumidifiers and other specialized drying equipment to help return the area to its normal moisture level. This is a closely monitored process, with our teams continually making adjustments to equipment to help ensure the area is recovering as quickly and as safely possible.

How dangerous is a flood?

Other than the environmental hazards, all natural flood water is classified as category 3 water damage. Category 3 water damage is defined as “Grossly unsanitary water containing pathogenic agents, arising from sewage or other contaminated water sources and having the likelihood of causing discomfort or sickness if consumed or exposed to humans.” Category 3 water damage is considered grossly contaminated. It may also be called “black water.”

What should you do if your house floods?

The most important thing to do is to move your family to safety. Next, shut off the water source and electricity if you can do so safely and avoid contact with standing water. Then call a professional water damage restoration company right away to begin the water extraction process.

Are sandbags helpful during a flood?

Sandbags are helpful for slowing and redirecting slow-moving water up to two feet deep, but they do not stop water completely. Do not rely on sandbags to counteract flood damage.
