Menasha is a city on the northern end of Lake Winnebago, at the mouth of the Fox River, that was settled in 1848 and incorporated in 1874.  It is mostly in Winnebago County, but a small area is also in Calumet County.  Menasha comes from a Native American word meaning “settlement on the island”.  A portion of the city is an island surrounded by two branches of the Fox River.  Today that island is called Doty Island, getting its name from one of the earliest investors in the area, James Doty, when treaties with American Indians opened the land for public sale. Surrounded by so much water it's easy to see why this area can be prone to needing water damage restoration.

But that same water that can sometimes cause water damage to homes and businesses in the area, has also brought transportation and the necessary power for industry and prosperity.  The Menasha Company was the first major employer in the area and made wooden products; everything from pails and tubs, to churns, measures, butter tubs, fish kits, clothes pins and more.  Back then Menasha was known for making wood products and flour.  But as time went on, paper mills took over in the area.  Today Menasha continues to home to some of the world’s largest corporations as well as innovative local companies including:  SCA, Donnelley, IPG, Obris (Menasha Company), Coveris, Sonoco, Affinity, Advanced Tool, Simply Incredible, McClone and Faith Technologies.
