I utilized SERVPRO of Wheaton/Glen Ellyn when I had a supply line to my upstairs toilet bust while I was out of town. Water went through two floors of my home down to my basement - extensive damage. Servpro, Kayt Watts, and the owner Grant responded IMMEDIATELY. I called them at 9:30pm Memorial Day weekend & they were at my house within 1 hour. Most importantly, they worked diligently to mitigate all the damage. What was also extremely helpful was their expertise with working through my insurance. Whether it be their damage mitigation team, or their personal items team (who packed out all of our personal items), they were always professional & timely. I can’t thank them enough for their work.

I am writing this on behalf of my boss, Irene P., who had her air ducts cleaned in her condo in the city. Flavio and team at SERVPRO did an amazing job! Their prices are reasonable, they are knowledgeable and attentive to the project. It took two days for the team to complete the project. They come equipped with the right equipment. Even though the manager, Flavio, was on holiday, he came to the condo anyway to get everything set up and I can't recommend Flavio and the Wheaton location enough for their time and effort! There are a number of SERVPRO franchises but the Wheaton location offers everything be it house or high rise. They were very careful to put down proper protection and then when they were done, the condo was immaculate. Flavio and team, thank you so much for you time and effort in cleaning my air ducts so well!

I am extremely satisfied with the service Servpro from Wheaton & Glen Ellyn provided. I had major water damage thru out my house, first and 2nd level. The response was prompt and the service was excellent. The crew Ricardo jr. Ricardo and Juan were polite, professional, and courteous, explaining the process and completing the job efficiently. Setting up all the equipment that was needed and making sure it work efficiently. Flavio was particularly informative and insured a smooth operation. I will highly recommend Servpro to friends and family.

Autumn Garibay is one of the best people I have ever met. Our condominium complex in Florida experienced catastrophic storm surge after Hurricane Helene. We live on Sand Key, a barrier island on the Gulf of Mexico. During Hurricane Helene, the entire key was flooded under 4+ feet of storm surge water, sewage overflow, heavy rains and devastating hurricane force winds. Our security building, first floor lobby, maintenance room, cleaning supply area, and elevators were destroyed or badly damaged. Our pool, landscaping, fence and grounds were destroyed. Everything was a mess. We were left all alone. During our fourth day of no power, while all the residents were grilling out what was left of our food, Autumn showed up like an angel that fell from the sky who wanted to help us. She immediately did a drone analysis of our damage to give us an estimate. She worked with lightening speed efficiency and she was empathetic to what we had just experienced. She was kind, and professional, well-prepared and efficient. She assembled a team of professionals with extensive experience cleaning up after natural disasters. There is no monetary value on what it means to have someone take care of your property, offering you top notch service and helping you get your life back together after you have been through a true disaster. Autumn worked with our building’s insurance provider and property management team to make sure all 110 units owner’s needs would be met after this disaster. She was there for us when we did not know what to do or where to start our cleanup efforts. If something bad happens to your town; it will be Autumn that shows up first. You know you can trust her to get you the help you need to get your homes and businesses back to the way they were.

Service pro Gold Coast/Lincoln park were one of several remediation companies recommended to me by my insurance. We had a braided hose spring a leak which caused water damage to our bathroom, brand new wood floors, bedroom closet downstairs and to the bathroom of unit below us. Kevin was quick to respond, provided exceptional service and made me feel comfortable throughout the entire process. The crew which installed the fans and dehumidifiers were great. Service pro was able to work directly with my insurance for payment and we’re able to salvage our brand new wood floors. I am very satisfied with my experience as there are multiple remediation companies to choose from. I always read reviews and decided to pull the trigger with service pro and I’m glad I did.

We came into an emergency situation where we called upon SERVPRO for the restoration services. I called and spoke to Jessica, a project coordinator who was empathic to our needs and was prompt to follow up our phone conversation with an email detailing all of our requested services. The email detailed information as to who our project manager was as well as having the inspection scheduled less than 24/HRS of our initial call. Kevin our project manager came to our location and was very thorough with the inspection and provided me a detailed scope of the project that was to be completed the next day. Kevin was a gem! He even called when there was more to the job that listed on the scope and explained to me each step of the restoration process. Needless to say, from our initial emergency to complete clean up and restoration it has been a seamless process. Service has been professional and amazing and the entire process has been called, scheduled and completed in less than 48 HRS. STELLAR SERVICE & HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! Thank you to Jessica, Kevin, Sara and all the SERVPRO TEAM for making a difficult situation so easy to deal with! Beth L.

Recently, there was a broken water pipe in a condo on the ninth floor of our building in Chicago. The resulting water damage was horrendous. ServPro cam immediately. We cannot begin to tell you how terrific all the men were. They came when they said they would come; they answered all my questions (even my foolish ones as we had never had a flood previously)e. The workers were all just outstanding!! We had de-humidifiers for two weeks The dining room wooden floor was pulled up. Now we learn that the kitchen and hallways floors will have to come up, as well, and possibly more. Through all of this, you men were top-notch! We cannot praise them enough. We felt that you should know how well ServPro is represented. Sincerely, Esther and Robert Manewit

How to clean up water damage in a home?

When a water emergency occurs in your home or business, it’s only natural to want to take action immediately. Below are some preliminary steps you can take before we arrive, but only attempt what you can do safely.

  1. Shut off the water source, if possible. If you’re not sure where the water is coming from, we’ll inspect and handle the situation as soon as we arrive. If you don’t know how to shut off the water, contact a plumber to help.
  2. Remove excess water by mopping, blotting, or wiping. This could include flooring and hard-surface furniture with standing water on it. Do not use your household vacuum to remove water, since it could cause damage to the vacuum or be unsafe.
  3. Protect carpet, rugs, drapes, and upholstered items from further damage. Place aluminum foil or parchment paper between furniture and wet carpet or rugs. Remove books, magazines, or other colored items from carpets and rugs. Hang draperies up with coated hangers to avoid contact with wet floors. Remove pillows or cushions from wet upholstered items.
  4. Avoid using electric or electronic items that have come into contact with water. This may include items such as light fixtures, ceiling fans, televisions, or appliances. If there is a possibility that someone else on the property may turn on an electric item that has come in contact with water, consider turning off the power to individual circuits within the power distribution panel of the property.
What is the typical cost for water damage restoration?

The cost of a water loss will vary greatly depending on the severity of the situation.

What is water damage restoration?

When water intrudes into a home or business, water damage restoration may be required. Water damage restoration is the professional process of removing unwanted water, drying and cleaning the structure and/or contents, and returning the property to its pre-loss condition. This is completed by professional technicians who are certified to follow industry standards using the proper methods and tools.

Is it safe to stay in a flooded home?

It may not be safe to stay in a flooded home or business. If you come into contact with or ingest flood water, it can make you sick if the water is contaminated. Standing water inside a structure that was inhabited also poses an electrocution risk, as appliances and electrical outlets can continue to be live and energized.

How do you restore water damage?

We’ll inspect your home or business and discuss with you the severity of the damage and our plan for helping return your property to pre-loss condition. We’ll then work to remove the water that shouldn’t be there using pumps and water-extracting tools. Materials that cannot be restored may be removed. Once the excess water is gone, we use dehumidifiers and other specialized drying equipment to help return the area to pre-loss condition. The drying process is then continually monitored. We clean and deodorize restorable contents and areas of the structure that need attention. This handy guide explains our water damage restoration process in detail.

How long does it take to dry out water damage?

Drying out a structure depends on the severity of the water damage that occurred and the type of structure, with an average situation taking 3–5 days. This can vary greatly though, depending on the magnitude of damage, amount of contents affected, any demolition that may be required, and the presence of any hazardous materials.

Returning a home or business to its pre-loss moisture levels is a closely monitored process, with our professionals making adjustments to equipment to help ensure the area is recovering as quickly and safely as possible.

Who to call for water damage?

A local SERVPRO is nearby and available now to respond to your water damage emergency right away. Our technicians are on call 24/7 with emergency services available immediately. Call 1-800-SERVPRO to reach a local SERVPRO, or find a SERVPRO location directly with our locator tool.

Who to call for water damage in ceiling?

It can be alarming to see a bubble growing in your ceiling and on the verge of bursting. SERVPRO can assist with this startling emergency right away, by calling 1-800-SERVPRO. You can also reach a local SERVPRO directly with our locator tool.

If possible, locate the source of the leak. If it’s being caused by an internal plumbing water source, turn off the water to that area, if you’re comfortable doing so and it can be done safely.

Is water damage dangerous?

Water damage can be a serious situation. Water flowing through your home or business can carry with it any contaminants that it has come into contact with. Electrical hazards are common when water damage has occurred, so do not enter the area until it’s deemed safe.

Flood waters or contaminated water can also be a danger to anyone who comes into contact with it. It can be difficult to pinpoint what the water contains. It could have chemicals, dirt, or bacteria within it. Additionally, depending on the severity of the water event, structural damage to the property could occur. Water damage may also make the area ripe for mold and mildew, which presents a danger to any occupants, as well.

Is my insurance going to cover this water damage to my home?

Many homeowner insurance policies do provide some level of coverage in a water damage situation, but you will need to contact your agent for details about your policy. The source of the water damage is important when dealing with insurance. Some flooding related to weather events requires special insurance available through the National Flood Insurance Program. We make insurance claims easier, with fewer headaches for you. We handle the details and coordinate any paperwork, so you can focus on moving forward.

Many personal items were damaged by water. Can SERVPRO help?

When water damage occurs, it’s not just the structure of your home that’s affected, but your personal belongings, too. Your family furniture, clothing, keepsakes, and other items are sometimes damaged during a flood or water damage emergency.

SERVPRO specializes in restoring these special items with our Packout & Contents Restoration services, as many cannot be replaced. We’ll assess your content to determine what items can be successfully restored. We can use several different methods to accomplish this:

  • Dry cleaning – Used for light residue or to pre-clean prior to wet cleaning.
  • Wet cleaning – Effective at removing moderate to heavy soiling.
  • Spray and wipe – For items that can’t withstand wet cleaning.
  • Foam cleaning – Used for upholstery fabrics that might shrink or bleed if wet cleaned.
  • Abrasive cleaning – Involves agitation of the surface being cleaned.
  • Immersion cleaning – The item is dipped into a cleaning product bath.

Additionally, we have document restoration services that may be able to save your valuable documents, including photographs.
